During September 2012, University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo’s Library hosted the Fractal Structures exhibition. On September 19 of this same year, the authors of the exhibited pieces participated in a series of special events dedicated to them.
On April 2011, Dr. José F. Candelaria visited the Santiago R. Palmer High and Luis F. Pérez Middle Schools of the Department of Education of Puerto Rico. He also participated in the STEM Summer Academy, where he offered workshops on fractals. There he spoke of their properties, explaining the mathematical concepts behind them and showing examples of their nature. During the workshops he motivated students to work with their teachers on designing fractal structures that later combined to produce bigger structures. These structures are the ones exhibited in our library.
Professor Abel Méndez from the Chemistry and Physics department offered a speech on exoplanets to Santiago R. Palmer High students.
